This dumb blog will let me put up pictures & videos, but wont let me post songs. So I hunted down some YouTube crap. I've been listening to these bands a lot recently. It's bubblegum pop for grindcore-punks. which is awesome.
The Death Set - Negative Thinking off of "Worldwide" on Counter/Ninja Tune 2008.
On monday, a band I'm in was slated to open for Japanther here in Ithaca. However, since for some reason they had to haul ass back to NYC by 2 a.m., they ended up opening for us. In any case, Japanther is just the bee's knees. They're like a Pop version of Lightening Bolt. sensing a trend?
Japanther - Challenge off of "Skuffed up my Huffy" on Menlo Park (at the time) 2007.
I was gonna link to something off of Times New Viking's "Rip it Off" (Matador 2008), but couldn't decide on one song, because the entire album is amazing. So go get it.
Moving away from noise-pop into the world of neo-americana, the new Felice Brothers album "Yonder is The Clock" (Team Love) is due to come out on april 7th, but you can get it here. I was skeptical, because they're first one is one of my favorite albums of the past couple years. The songs aren't as up-tempo and fun as their first album, but the production is better, and the songwriting is better (a tall order).
